Cycling in Scotland

From mountain tracks, country lanes and forest trails to quiet roads, long distance touring routes and the National Cycle Network – Scotland has something to suit all levels, no matter what age or ability. The South of Scotland is an area that stretches from the North Sea to the Irish Sea and from the border with England almost as far as Edinburgh on the east coast and up towards Glasgow on the west. There is no town larger than Dumfries, with a population of just 50,000. Few people means few cars and the roads (even some of the A roads) are remarkably quiet - perfect for cycling. This area is home to the 7stanes - 7 mountain bike centres at Ae, Dalbeattie, Glentress & Innerleithen, Glentrool, Kirroughtree, Mabie and Newcastleton.
