Cream O' Galloway Dairy Company

The history of Cream O’ Galloway goes back to 1992, when after years of producing milk on Rainton Farm, the Finlay Family decided to look for an alternative outlet for their product. With a history in cheese making on the farm, this was the obvious choice, but it was not necessarily the most likely to succeed. An alternative was sought and after much research and experimenting in the home kitchen of producing ice cream, the Finlays were convinced they were onto a winner.

In 1994 the first “commercial ice-cream” from Cream O’ Galloway came off the production line and was sold at the Royal Highland Show, and only two weeks later, the farm shop and nature trailed opened to the public. Visitor numbers have soared, from around 7,000 in 1994 to over 60,000 per year now, and the attractions and nature trails are continually being added to … it really is a full, fun-packed day out for the whole family. The company now employs 15 all year round staff with an additional 40 for the busy holiday periods. Cream o’ Galloway’s products are now available in hundreds of outlets right across the UK and the range of flavors is phenomenal.
